    The spread of digital technologies in the oil & gas industry is generating new opportunities to improve performance, profitability and sustainability, but it also brings new safety and security challenges in operations, including gas networks.

    Gas transmission system operators are looking at artificial intelligence, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), machine learning and augmented reality to see how they may improve operational efficiency and safety, for example. Some are already integrating digital technologies into more sophisticated data gathering, analysis and visualization to maintain, repair and operate gas networks.

  • As IMTS opens, records are falling

    Courtesy: Bob Vavra, CFE MediaThe 2018 edition of the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) opens Sept. 10 in Chicago riding a wave of optimism and expecting record numbers.

    “We’re in a very good place going into IMTS, but we’re not just talking about a trade show,” said Peter Eelman, vice president of exhibitions  and business development for the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) which stages the biannual IMTS event. “Manufacturing technology is in a good place. It’s in a growth place. It’s changing so rapidly that you need to get down to the emerging technology centers because it may change before the show ends.
