Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the entire educational landscape, offering unprecedented opportunities for personalized and efficient learning (Tahiru, 2021; Wang & Xue, 2024; Zhai et al., 2021) In every educational field, from STEM to humanities, AI-powered tools provide tailored educational experiences that cater to the unique needs of each student (Chassignol et al., 2018; Maghsudi et al., 2021; Wang & Wang, 2024). These technologies analyze vast amounts of data to identify learning patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement, enabling educators to offer more targeted and effective instruction (Cope et al., 2021; Kim et al., 2022). AI also supports teachers by automating administrative tasks, allowing them to focus more on student interaction and personalized teaching (Gao et al., 2024; Kim et al., 2020; Kim, 2023). Moreover, AI facilitates the creation of immersive and interactive learning environments through virtual and augmented reality, gamification, and adaptive learning platforms, making education more engaging and accessible (Schiff, 2021). By leveraging AI, education can become more inclusive, offering customized support to learners with diverse needs and backgrounds, thereby enhancing overall educational outcomes and preparing students for the demands of the future workforce (Kuleto et al., 2021; Wu et al., 2024; Zhi et al., 2023).

Positive psychology, which focuses on the strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive, plays a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of AI in education (Dai & Wang, 2024; Gado et al., 2022; Wang et al., 2021). Positive psychology principles, such as fostering a growth mindset, resilience, and intrinsic motivation, can greatly influence how students and teachers interact with AI tools (Sundar, 2020; Yaden et al., 2018). When students and teachers approach AI-assisted education with a positive attitude and high self-efficacy, they are more likely to engage deeply with the material, persist through challenges, and achieve better outcomes (Jansen et al., 2015; Perera & John, 2020). By integrating positive psychology strategies, educators can create a supportive learning environment that not only improves proficiency in various subjects but also boosts the overall well-being and motivation of both students and teachers (Reeve, 2013; Waters, 2011). Thus, the synergy between AI and positive psychology can lead to more effective and enjoyable educational experiences across all fields.
