Dear Colleagues,

Narratives of Space: Eco-Feminist Perspectives on Postcolonial Environmental Discourse explores how the intersections between gender, colonial history, and ecological concerns shape the understanding of space and place in literature and critical theory. The proposed topic is of particular relevance because it would enable a study of how space narratives-from personal environments to global ecological issues-could be reinterpreted through an eco-feminist view. Eco-feminism criticizes the dual oppression of women and nature on the basis that patriarchal systems perpetuate environmental degradation and social injustice. Such a narrative approach, considering postcolonial perspectives, may reveal how colonial histories shape the contemporary aspects of environmental issues and gender roles in different contexts.

For example, the issue of human constructs pitted against nature could be repositioned through a postcolonial framework into one focusing on how historical injustices shape current ecological realities. It also points toward complex histories informing the present relationship of marginalized communities with their environments and recommends considering colonial legacies and gendered experiences in all forms of environmental storytelling. We welcome conceptual and empirical articles, reviews, critical comments, and meta-analyses for consideration in this Special Issue. Manuscripts from different disciplines will be accepted, addressing topics related to the scope.
