Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Psychology and Behavior in Sports Environments is a blend of environmental psychology, behavioral science, and sports science that aims to explore the dynamic, bidirectional relationship between sports settings and human psychology. This interdisciplinary field investigates how physical and social environments—from stadiums and gyms to natural trails and digital platforms—shape the cognition, emotion, motivation, and behavior of athletes, spectators, coaches, and organizers. Conversely, it also examines how human psychological processes and behavioral patterns influence the perception, use, and design of sports environments. We welcome a diversity of articles, such as conceptual and empirical articles, reviews, critical comments, and meta-analyses, for submission to this Special Issue. We will accept manuscripts from different disciplines, addressing topics related to the scope, including but not limited to:

Environmental perception and cognitive processing in sports contexts

Social norms, group dynamics, and interpersonal behavior in team settings

Mental health, well-being, and coping mechanisms in athletic environments

Behavioral change and sustainability practices in sports events and facilities

Design of sports environments to enhance performance, safety, and inclusion

Psychological impacts of climate change and environmental attitudes in sports

Technology-mediated sports environments and user experience

Developmental, educational, and gender perspectives in sports settings

Cross-cultural comparisons of environmental behavior in sports

We look forward to receiving your contributions and advancing a deeper, more integrated understanding of how environments and human factors interact in the world of sports.
