Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly prevalent in various domains, having revolutionized the way organizations operate and individuals make decisions. As AI technologies continue to advance, it is crucial to investigate their psychological impacts on both organizational behavior and human decision processes. This special issue, accordingly, aims to shed light on the complex interplay between AI and human psychology, offering valuable insights into the consequences, challenges, and opportunities arising from the integration of the AI systems and applications in different organizational settings.

Bearing these developments and factors in mind, this special issue seeks to explore the psychological implications of AI in organizational behavior and human decision processes. To this end, our special issue aims to bring together interdisciplinary research that investigates the influence of AI on individuals, teams, and organizations, focusing on the following key objectives:

I.To understand the psychological consequences of AI adoption: exploring how the implementation of AI technologies influences employee attitudes, well-being, and job satisfaction. Investigating the psychological implications of job automation, augmentation, and AI-enabled decision-making processes on employee motivation, engagement, and overall work experiences.

II.To examine the impact of AI on human decision processes: analyzing the cognitive and behavioral effects of AI integration in decision-making contexts. Investigating how AI algorithms and automated decision support systems influence human judgment, biases, and decision-making strategies. Exploring the psychological factors that mediate or moderate the relationship between humans and AI means in the decision-making process.

III.To identify the challenges and opportunities for human-AI collaboration: exploring the dynamics of human-AI interaction and collaboration in organizations. Investigating the factors that shape trust, cooperation, and coordination between humans and AI systems. Examining the psychological barriers and enablers for effective integration of AI technologies, such as transparency, explainability, accountability, and ethics.

IV.To investigate ethical and social considerations of AI implementation: examining the psychological impacts of AI technologies on issues such as privacy, fairness, and equality. Exploring the psychological dimensions of AI bias, discrimination, and unintended consequences. Identifying strategies to address ethical challenges and mitigate potential negative psychological effects of AI implementation.
